ok..here's my point of view about the idea of having a nuclear power plant on our backyard..but before that..the policeman that shot the 15 year old boy has been charged NOT convict with section 304(A) inculpable homicide not mounting to murder..more stories here The Star

so most of you if not all of you already heard the plan of having a nuclear plant by the year 2021 or something? that's pretty damn soon if you ask me, and I've wrote about this in here, the plan has been talked and discussed for more than a year now, and I personally think it's a good idea..I know it's against what I stand for, which is green and sustainable energy BUT I'm looking at a long term view here..sustainable energy for 50 years, now..that sure beat petroleum reservoir we have that rumors to dried in 2030 and gas reserve only up to 2047..

there are some interesting questions that are being asked, like..where the hell are we going to build this thing?it's not like we have thousands of acre of land that aren't being use for anything..so, I list down a few possible places to build the plant,

1. top of Titiwangsa Range
2.on the most top of the country (Perlis, Perak, Kelantan)
3.on some island somewhere, preferably with no tourist interest
4.on opposition party's led states(Selangor, Perlis, Kelantan) HEHEHE

either way, the idea of building it has already drew some attention, no other ASEAN countries have the capability of building a nuclear power plant, not even Singapore!

I still hold my ground to find green, renewable and sustainable energy..we are located in the middle of South East Asia, we have winds, waves and tides power from South China Sea, solar power all year round, and this power last for millenia, why can't we harness this energy instead?

whatever the reason, I just hope we have the expertise and the security to handle nuclear, because IT'S NUCLEAR WE TALKING ABOUT, have you forget Chernobyl? or do you need pictures to remind you?

Doomsday Vault

yes, Doomsday Vault...sounds like a pandora box huh? but don't worry, the name actually is a modern day Noah's Ark, but instead of animals, it stores plants, more accurate, seeds..

the official name for Doomsday Vault is the Svalbard Globe Seed Vault , build for one sole purpose, to store all the seeds in the world to prepare human against starvation in case of a cataclysmic event (why it was nickname the Doomsday Vault) that will affect the whole world, man made or not (e.g: nuclear war, global warming, meteor impact, zombies infestation, alien invasion WHAT? it could happen)

the construction of the vault started in 2006, the location? near the freaking North Pole, now there are reasons why it was build there, and yes, one of them is to keep people away, mainly the bad people

entrance, no guard? no problem

the other reason is the stability of the location from earthquake activity, other than that, the low temperature is needed in order for the seeds to last for hundreds of years, there are massive aircond that help kept the temperature low, if that fail, with permafrost in the rocks, the temperature can be kept under 3 degrees all year round

one might think, who in their right mind would work here? but the truth is personel only come to check the vault at least once a year, because the scientist believe that it is important that the seeds can survive with very limit intervention from human as possible

the exact location is known to only a few people, but the vault is generally located at the Norwegian Island, at the Svalbard Archipelago, hence the name..but if one would know the location, that does not mean its easy to get into the vault, it is protected by 4 massive door , that can only be open remotely

no one gonna reach the doors anyway with the killing frozen winds there

to date, the vault already stored 500 thousands seeds, and with capacity of 4.5 millions seeds, it's a long way to go, may we don't need to use the vault anytime soon.

celebrate Earth Day on 22nd April

most of you don't even care what I'm writing in this new post (don't lie, I KNOW..hehe) but being a socially responsible human being on this planet, I figure I need to write this down..

so tomorrow is the official Earth Day, much like Earth Hour, it is here to promote climate change awareness and how we can react to change it..

NASA has reported, if the scenario we in right now doesn't change, we could see significant change to the Earth environment as early as 50 years! though most of you probably think you won't be there to see it, think about the children you left behind to clean up your mess! and what if you are still here after 50 years? think about it you're old, you are expendable..hehe

and some of you might think there's nothing wrong with an increase in 2 or 3 degrees..right? WRONG! there are now evidences that even 1 degrees celcius increase could lead to catastrophic change to the world climate..

one day on your way to work...

now, some may ask, "what can we do?its not like 1 human being can change the world.." and you're right, but all you have to do is to have the conscience to do better to the Earth, cause as long as we live here, we might as well do our part to maintain it..

Copenhagen Accord

ok, I'm gonna write something really boring here..so don't bother reading about them...unless of course you as worried as me..

the Climate Change Summit that taken place in Copenhagen that lasted 2 weeks, ended today..it was supposed to end on Friday, but with no possible deal happening, the summit was push to one more day..and a deal was made..but does it help? did the summit really tackle growing concern of climate change of the Earth?

the summit started relatively peaceful with developing and developed countries presenting their drafts on how to tackle and their commitment on reducing greenhouse gases, however as the dateline came closer, the tension increased, with desperation to create a deal where not only it benefit the developed countries but also the developing countries..

although the summit was attended by almost 192 world leaders, but most of the decisions was made by few developed and important nations, such as the US, China, and India..this resulted in some developing countries considered as a one way benefits to the important nations only..

however, if it wasn't for the midnight meeting of China, US, India, Brazil and S.Africa, on creating a deal with each other, the summit might fail all together...at last a deal was made and the summit does not end up in failure, but not a total victory too..

the last deal known as the Copenhagen Accord have a long-term objective, that states that all nations will be responsible in keeping the global temperature to rise at a maximum of 2 degrees only in the next centuries..this is achieved after studies show that by the end of the centuries, if no actions is taken now, the temperature could increase up to 4 to 6 degrees, and that's is too hot to handle..

the Copenhagen Accord also states that all nations will reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, from 2005 data..the accord also states that developing nations will reduce deforestation and in return they will be help by funding from developed and rich countries, $100 billion US dollars a year to be precise

although the summit did not end in failure, some said the deal that was made between the US, China, India, Brazil and S.Africa would only benefits the rich nations only..

in my opinion, although the deal might be one-sided only..its a small step that shows, if the leaders of powerful nations can sit down in 1 room to discuss this, changes can be made..it is now that we must commit ourselves to what we promise to save the Earth not for us, but for our children and grandchildren
