Up In The Air is a movie to watch for those men who have commitment issue..seriously
this movie is about a guy, Ryan Bingham(played by George Clooney) whose job is going all around the world and firing people (I know right?!) set in time of the present day fallout economy, a lot of companies need to downsizing themselves but don't have the ball to do it, so they hire him to do it..
not only that, he is also a motivational speaker, what kind of motivation? make people run out of commitment, no family, no marriage..that's kind of stuffs..
and he was doing well, living the big life, when 1 day he met a women in the airport , Alex(played by Vera Farmiga) whom he slept with, unknown to him, that she is actually married with 2 children, at the same time, a young girl, Natalie(played by Anna Kendrick) came into his company bringing new ways of firing people..instead of traveling to the company, she suggest to fired them via the internet..yes..THE INTERNET!
angry of this new method of cutting the budget, Ryan talk sense into his boss, that in turn wants him to train Natalie of the ways the jobs work..so for the next few weeks, she will be traveling with him, learning and understanding the job she is in..
and here is where it gets good, Natalie found out that the jobs sucks! and that when she found got dump by her boyfriend, she cry to Ryan..where he and Alex comforts her..but on the next morning, when Natalie ask Ryan who Alex to him..he casually reply.."she's a casual"..
Natalie furious of Ryan philosophy of no commitment, gets angry but later regrets, when Ryan's boss wants to fully implement of firing people via the internet, which would means no more traveling for Ryan, which has been his life until now..
so before he gets on his plane to get home, he changes his mind and go to see Alex instead, where he soon realize his feelings for her, when he invites her to his sister's wedding..this is when he realize that he is ready for a commitment..but during his visits to Alex's house, he found out that she's married..and this was a great blow for him..
back at his works, depress, his boss tell him that a woman he and Natalie fired had killed herself..and this make Natalie quits her job thru text message...
and in the ending, Natalie got a job she love when Ryan send a recommendation letter to her new boss, saying she's one of the best..but Ryan still with his job, traveling around the country to fire people..sad that he's all alone...
so this movie that talks about a lot of things, the main issue here is commitment, how to commit, commitment scare..all that kind of stuffs..
but don't get me wrong, its not all that boring..its more funny that you think, especially when Ryan went training with Natalie..you got to see all the expression people do when they got fired..
not to forget here, this movie is directed from the director of Juno, which is a great movie if you guys remember..
this movie is a definite 4.5/5 stars..go watch it in the cinemas when it hit near you..
